9. Sun Kil Moon, April
The dude from Red House Painters. Songs are similar, but reallllllllllllllllly long.

8. Coldplay, Viva La Vida
I thought I would hate it, but I actually like it.

7. TV on the Radio, Dear Science
My new favorite of theirs.

6. Sigur Ros, Med Sud I Eyrum Vid Spilum Endalaust
The most accessible Sigur Ros album yet. The songs are pretty short by their standards.

5. Deerhunter, Microcastle
One of the oddest men in indie rock...



4. Horse Feathers, House With No Home
Imagine Bon Iver with violins and cellos. Just look at the album cover and you can feel how it will sound.


3. Wolf Parade, At Mount Zoomer
These guys are just so good. If they would quit putting out solo albums and side projects every month and just focused on Wolf Parade, they would probably be my second favorite band alive today.


2. Fleet Foxes, Fleet Foxes
The disaster that was My Morning Jacket's new album left a void in my life, but Fleet Foxes filled it immediately. And probably better than MMJ could have done anyway.


1. Dodos, Visiter
I love this album for the same reason I hate the sounds that come out of Nashville and LA. Anyone can pay thousands to get 25 of the top studio musicians in a room and make a mediocre song sound full and grandiose. But there's just something awesome about when you can feel how hard two kids are working to create a raw, full sound by strumming, pounding, and kicking their piece of crap guitar and make-shift drum kits. And the songs are just great.
