Red Light Company

Hey Folks here is another great band called the Red Light Company. They are a fun indie rock pop band similar but way better than The Killers. Take a listen and see what you think.

p.s. sorry for the inappropriate album art but that is what their record looks like.

here we go magic

This is what I'm listening to:

I kept hearing about this band around the "blogosphere", so I checked them out today. Depending on the track, they seem to occupy a strange, cool place between Royksopp electronica and DOE indie folk.

This is what I have been listening to lately....

So I know this is kind of lame and totally unmusical but basically this is a what have you been listening to lately blog and this is what I have been listening to lately. I have been taking a class with Jerram Barrs called apologetics and outreach and he spent a whole class talking about the Lord of the Rings. It inspired me to read them but since I don't even have time to read what I am supposed to for class I thought I would get the books on audio... I'm on Fellowship.... and it's awesome!

Flavor of the month

So I'm finally coming out of my Animal Collective coma, and I've been listening to stuff that is a little more...sugary. AnCo's latest album was poppy, but I've recently wanted something that immediately fits in with my musical proclivities.

Enter The Pains of Being Pure at Heart. I'm sure some of you have given them a listen. I don't think any new ground is being broken here, but I really like them. Think shoegaze. Below is the last track on their new album. The drums seem almost exactly like the drums on Jesus and Mary Chain's "Just Like Honey," but it varies as the song progresses...Actually it pretty much sounds exactly like a J&MC song.

iphone mgmt cover

i wonder how long it will be until this becomes an iphone commercial?

it's pretty amazing that they can play an entire song and not completely butcher it, using only music apps on the iphone. impressive. the band performing is the mentalists.

hat tip: pitchfork.

and just in case you want to hear the original. it's one of my favorite songs from the album.

Kids - MGMT
also, i think i figured out our 30 second problem. imeem must secure rights from each artist to allow it to stream on other sites. for all the artists imeem has not gotten the rights to, you have to go imeem.com to hear the full song.
